The storyline from the film demonstrates this. Chaplin’s tramp falls in adore with Merna, who returns his passion. Then, a tightrope walker named Rex (performed by Henry Bergman) arrives on to the scene and Merna quickly falls in love with him. Why? Mainly because his act is daring and hazardous while Chaplin’s clown act has a lot less prestige
